Depending on the security settings of the project, files downloaded from Firmex may be using Seclore, our Digital Rights Management (DRM) plugin that enables our document protection features of disable print, expire access, and lock to computer.
We’re excited to announce that we are upgrading our Seclore application to the newest version to give you a better, more seamless experience when interacting with protected documents you download from Firmex.
What’s Improved?
With the newest version of the Seclore app, you’ll experience the following benefits:
- Streamlined access: Users will only need to authenticate once when opening multiple protected documents.
- A new document protection feature: Prevent screen and video capture (available on Windows).
- PDFs will now open in Adobe Reader, the most popular and trusted PDF reader.
- Automatic app updates, so you’ll always have the latest version.
What’s Staying the Same?
You can still expect all the same document protection features powered by Seclore that you’ve used in the past, just with a more smooth, frictionless user experience.
- Prevent printing of documents.
- Lock documents to the first computer they were opened on.
- Expire access to documents.
- Prevent copy and paste.
How Can I Download the New Seclore App?

When Will the Current Seclore App Be Decommissioned?
We will be decommissioning the legacy version of the Seclore app in mid-July 2024, after which time both the legacy app and documents which were protected by the legacy app can no longer be opened. Users will need to have the newest version of Seclore downloaded in order to continue viewing protected documents.
Prior to the decommissioning of the legacy Seclore app, users will receive email reminders and notices in-product as well as on the Seclore login screen.
